Bathyswath-2 provides high-density bathymetry and sidescan seafloor imagery data across a very wide swath width, especially in shallow water. It is the next generation in a long line of tried and trusted interferometric swath bathymetry systems.

Both the interferometric multibeams and beamforming multibeams measure range and angle to a series of points on the seabed. A beamformer mathematically forms a set of “beams”, and detects the range to the seabed in each beam. A COMPREHENSIVE BATHYMETRIC & SEABED MAPPING SURVEY SYSTEM

BATHYSWATH is an interferometric, wide-swath sonar system for surveying underwater surfaces, providing co-registered, high-density bathymetric data and seafloor imagery. Processed data outputs include digital terrain models and sidescan quality seafloor images. It is equally well suited for use at sea, inland waterways and on lakes.
BATHYSWATH-SPLASH is available as standard 2-transducer and enhanced 3-transducer versions, whereby the latter configuration offers an additional profile along the path of travel giving very high data density in the nadir region.

Three frequencies (depth ranges) are available; 468 kHz (to 80 m water depth, 234 kHz (to 200 m water depth) and 117 kHz (to 350 m water depth).
BATHYSWATH has a compact, lightweight and uncomplicated design. As such, it is easy to mobilise and demobilise and can be supplied with an optional bow mounting kit for rapid and convenient deployment and recovery. It offers a neat solution for a trailer transportable survey vessel.

Recent improvements on the Bathyswath-2:

  • Bathyswath-2 transducers include a signal pre-amplifier so that the distance between the transducer and its electronics (located inside the Deck Unit [DU] or the Subsea Unit [SU]) is no more limited to 20m only. Bathyswath-2 transducers are also smaller
  • Bathyswath-2 electronic components are from the latest generation and are less noisy. Bathyswath-2 TEM (Transducer Electronic Module) consists of one PCB only that can accept up to 3 transducers (It is 1 board per transducer with Bathyswath-1)
  • Bathyswath-2 TEM is compatible with all 3 frequencies (117, 234 and 468 kHz).
  • Bathyswath-2 Subsea Unit [SU] is depth rated to 300 or 2000m, the Deck Unit [DU] is IP67
  • Bathyswath-2 Subsea Unit [SU] can be sold as a fully integrated low cost system (including the following options: INS, SVS and/or Pan&Tilt motor)
  • Gap filling (Interferometry): Bathyswath-2 (like SWATHplus) can accept a third transducer for this purpose and is also compatible with a specific multibeam sonar used as gap-filler
